Award-Winning Print Supports Research Team Efficiencies
The Division of Veterinary Services manages hundreds of animals used in research, each requiring careful monitoring and detailed communication among staff. Evolution creative solutions previously designed a color-coded card system, which worked well, but Cincinnati Children’s needed an updated version compatible with robotic scanning technology while remaining practical for everyday use. Evolution creative solutions partnered closely with the hospital to solve multiple design challenges, including proper sizing for animal cages, tab alignment readable by robotic systems, and easy visual organization for staff. The project included both horizontal and vertical tabbed cards printed on fluorescent stocks for fast identification, along with a specialty hazardous-material card produced on durable, rigid vinyl for repeated use.
From Prototype to Full Production
Evolution creative solutions first produced a small pilot run of 50 cards so Cincinnati Children’s could test the system and verify robotic readability. Feedback from the pilot identified refinements, and Evolution creative solutions updated the design before moving into full production.
Custom die cutting, fluorescent stock selection, and specialty rigid vinyl printing all worked together to create a highly functional visual communication system tailored to the hospital’s exact needs.
