The Business Problem
San Antonio Italian Chapel in Cincinnati has been serving the community since 1922. For their one-hundredth anniversary they documented church history and founding family genealogy with photos and content. Months of writing and design work resulted in a 148 page book. An artist in the congregation made a painting of the church building and a photo of that painting would be the cover. They wanted a professionally bound book that families would consider a memoir worth purchasing and keeping.
Evolution’s Creative Solution
Our creative solutions team was excited to work with the church to publish this historical volume. We recommended a standard page size to avoid costs associated with custom page cuts. We also recommended a full color print for the cover with a full bleed so that the painting became the entire soft cover. On the inside pages we used black ink to reduce print costs. Perfect bound is the technique we recommended for binding the book. With a perfect bound edition, the cover and pages line up perfectly, the pages are glued to the spine, not stapled. A perfect bound book can have printing on the outside of the spine, too, allowing for people to find the title easily on the bookshelf.
The book was an instant bestseller among the congregation! The first printing sold out quickly and a print reorder was requested. We are honored to have worked with San Antonio Italian Chapel to print this historical church document.
